چکیده

Due to advance in semiconductor manufacturing technology, integration of whole electronics system on a single chip is feasible. Starting with baseline CMOS logic, semiconductor wafer manufacturers have gradually added to their portfolio embedded memory (SRAM, OPT, Flash), mixed signal devices, RF devices, and even MEMS. Because it offers many advantages over traditional multiple-chip solutions, system-on-a-chip (SOC) has drawn great attention from both academia and industry. We expect an SOC solution to be smaller, less expense, more energy efficient, more reliable, etc. However, designing an SOC for successful mass production is much more complicated than that of traditional simpler logic, memory, or analog chips. This chapter outlines some important issues that face an SOC design team and give brief introduction to each chapter of this book

CHIP-PKG-PCB Co-Design Methodology

For digital devices integrating an image-processing LSI, performance improvement, cost cutting and reduction of the time to market are essential conditions for surviving in the increasingly competitive global market. At the same time, more and more image-processing LSIs are taking the form of large-scale system-on-a-chip (SoC). It is becoming harder to design them as the degree of integration i...

Embedded Memory Test Strategies and Repair

The demand of self-testing proportionally increases with memory size in System on Chip (SoC). SoC architecture normally occupies the majority of its area by memories. Due to increase in density of embedded memories, there is a need of self-testing mechanism in SoC design. Therefore, this research study focuses on this problem and introduces a smooth solution for self-testing.  In the proposed m...

A Tiq Based Cmos Flash A/d Converter for System-on-chip Applications

The analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is an essential part of system-on-chip (SoC) products because it bridges the gap between the analog physical world and the digital logical world. In the digital domain, low power and low voltage requirements are becoming more important issues as the channel length of MOSFET shrinks below 0.25 sub-micron values. Moreover, SoC trends force ADCs to be integrat...

RTL Low Power Techniques for System-On-Chip Designs

Low power design remains a complex and critical challenge for System-On-Chip (SOC) designs which often involve the reuse of existing internal and/or external Intellectual Property (IP), while often incorporating new IP as well. This approach to IC design might involve multiple, unrelated clocks, convergent clocks, clocks being used as enables, and vice versa. SOC Design Houses often integrate d...

Low-Noise and Low-Voltage Circuit Techniques for CMOS Analog Design

1. Introduction A system on chip (SoC), which has various functions on a LSI, has been developed for a variety of applications by the submicron technologies. Especially, implantable and/or attachable neural sensor chips, which are implemented by the SoC, attract a lot of interest [1]. The neural sensor chip, which includes with a low-noise amplifier, analog-to-digital converter (ADC), transceiv...
